Good afternoon loving readers,
The winter is behind us and Summer will be here before we know it! It is that time of the year where special events, weddings, parties and vacations are happening and we are desperate to look and feel good in that outfit or bikini. So what do we do? We usually plan last minute, we starve ourselves hoping to drop the weight as fast as possible and we go and do 3 hours cardio, believe me I have done it. Well we have it all wrong. So today I wanted to give you a few tips on how to look amazing for that event without killing yourself in the process.
Just keep in mind, events come and go but your priority should be your body. YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE Our bodies are constantly working and they work really hard so we truly need these calories, even just to have a pulse. We often forget that our bodies are constantly working and we need those calories so your organs can have the proper fuel to function properly. Believe me I have been there, I have reduce my calories so that I can look my best, but I care about you and what is most important to me if your health and well being. Please don’t jeopardize it. It is to be cherished and treasure J In addition, what we are trying to accomplish here is to look slim and and avoid bloating. Am I right ladies? So in order to avoid bloating you need to eat a substantial amount to keep things moving in your digestive tract. Food will have an impact on your digestion and there is a threshold of volume that is required in order to avoid the accumulation of indigestive material residual in your intestines. For every gram of glycogen, stored in the form of carbohydrate, you stored 3 grams of water. 2. EAT CARBS Now I got your attention J Keep in mind that I am not suggesting for you to go eat white bread, pizza and donuts what I am suggesting here is to include a healthy wholesome form of carbohydrates in your meals in the form of fruit, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and a variety of starchy vegetables. If you stop eating carbohydrates all you are going to accomplish is to lose water weight and muscle mass which will reflect on the scale but not really on your body composition. I think the goal here is to look good in that perfect outfit. You have spent hours and hours at the mall or online looking for the perfect outfit and now that you have finally found it. I want you to ROCK IT! J. Instead, what you can do here is that you can strategically consume your carbohydrates to optimize fat loss. Have your carbohydrates before and after your workout. If you enjoy fruit, enjoy a small amount of fruit pre-workout and after your workout have your starchy vegetables, legumes, you get my point. Just be mindful that it is important to include every macronutrient into our diet. 3. AVOID OVERDOING AT THE GYM Have in mind that water in the body shifts according to the type of exercise we do. What we need to do is maximize the water in our muscle cells, so we can achieve a more defined body. When we do heavy lifting and 4 hours of cardio, we are stressing our bodies and when there is trauma to the body the body launches an acute inflammation response. Aim for body weight circuit training, hot yoga and Pilates. 4. SLEEP Often when we have a goal in mind, we find ourselves worrying and the majority of the time, all the stress surfaces at night and as a result we lack proper sleep. Lack of sleep actually reduces all of our efforts during the day to eat a whole food nutrient dense diet. In other words, lack of sleep causes a rise in ghrelin, appetite hormone; therefore we tend to feel hungrier. In addition, a rise in ghrelin decreases energy expenditure and promotes retention of fat. 5. HYDRATE It is important to keep our digestion moving and to keep ourselves hydrated to make sure our skin is well hydrated. In addition, it will help with hunger. Sometimes, even though it feels like you are hungry you may just be dehydrated. So when you wake up have one to two glasses of water, at work, make sure you have a water bottle and fill it up every time you get up from your desk to get a break. Drink drink drink. Hope this serves you! With gratitude, Anamaria
